Focus Areas

Local knowledge is important for a number of reasons, but not least to understand what works and how things get done in Vietnam.

Examples of areas where our local knowledge and international expertise, provide competitive advantage include;

Air conditioning

Air conditionng systems in Vietnam must cater for the high humidity levels experienced, and the very high cost of electricity for foreign invested projects (up toUS$0.17/kWh).

Based on solid experience we are able to advise on the merits of different air conditioning systems, based on life cycle costing and performance requirements.

Performance requirements may be for comfort, humidity control, hygiene or for clean room standard requirements.

Our specialties include:

Fire safety engineering

The lack of Vietnamese codes, and the absence of international standard fire brigades, means that is essential that a client considers fully the risks to their projects of fire, and makes the most appropriate decisions themselves.

We are familiar with a number of international fire codes including USA, Australia, Britain, Singapore and Hong Kong. We normally recommend that one of these codes be adopted in it’s entirety for any given project.

Modern fire standards are shifting towards a performance based system. We offer the expertise to be able to advise when certain fire protection systems can be omitted, or when they are absolutely required.

Energy management

We offer energy management studies for new and existing buildings to clarify where energy is being used and to advise on possible solutions to reduce energy bills. Electricity is expensive in Vietnam, with peak tariffs up to US$0.17 per kWh, and US$0.11 per kWh on average.

Combined with the high air conditioning loads required owing to the tropical conditions, it is not unusual for energy costs to be a very significant part of a business’s operating costs.

A small reduction in energy consumed translates into attractive payback periods for the work involved, both the study and any system modifications required.

Environment

We place a special emphasis on the environment, recognising our responsibilities to promote environmentally friendly and sustainable solutions, and mindful that projects in the developing world are permitted to follow less stringent codes than in developed countries.

In the absence of municipal sewers and to meet increasing environmental awareness expectations, most commercial and industrial projects will require some form of waste management system.

We offer performance based specifications, to allow competitive tendering between suppliers with differing technologies.

Process refrigeration

We offer detailed design and perfromance based design for process refrigeration systems including ammonia, carbon dioxide, or hydrofluorocarbon systems. A perfomance specification normally is the preferred method here, allowing companies with different experiences and ideas to competitively bid to meet strict performance and quality requirements.
